The NHS always
tries to do its best for patients, but we recognise that things
will not always go according to your expectations. If this happens
and you have concerns, the best thing to do is to raise them with
a member of staff at the time. Often, an explanation and reassurance
can be provided straight away.
If, after
this, you are still unhappy, you can make a complaint in a more
formal way.
How
Do I Complain?
Whenever you
can, tell someone close to the cause of your concerns - a nurse,
doctor or receptionist. Often they will be able to sort out your
problem straight away.
Help
and Support
If you would
like support or simply want someone to discuss your concerns with,
the Patient Advice and Liaison
Service (PALS) from the relevant Trust is there to help you.
PALS are dedicated and specially trained staff who are located
in each Trust to help you sort out the problems you are experiencing.
